Ottawa's United Way agency is shrinking its staff by more than ten per cent after failing to meet their fundraising goal last year.

Thirteen positions out of a staff of 107 people won't be re-filled, with four people laid off on Wednesday. The rest are vacant jobs that won't be filled.

This comes after the campaign was $1.5 million short of its $33.5 million fundraising goal.

The United Way said the lay-offs will absorb most of that shortfall and funding partners will still see most of the funding they're expecting.
