Slain Ottawa Police Constable Eric Czapnik was honoured Saturday with a plaque unveiled at police headquarters.
Czapnik was stabbed to death last December outside Ottawa's Civic Hospital, while on duty.
He joins the names of 13 other officers who died in the line of duty for the Ottawa Police. Czapnik was the first on-duty officer to die since 1983.
Police Chief Vern White and Police Services Board vice-chairman Jim MacEwen added the plaque to the Fallen Officers' Wall of Honour.
"This year, we honour Constable Eric Czapnik who died on December 29, 2009," said Chief Vern White to fellow officers, and Czapnik's widow and her children.
"As well, we honour our 14 historical Ottawa Police inductees who sacrificed their lives in years past, whose names appear on our Fallen Officers Memorial Wall."
Commemorative blue ribbon decals were also unveiled, and they will be added to all marked police cars in memory of the fallen officers.
White and 19 fellow Ottawa police officers are also running the final three-kilometre leg of the National Police Officers Run, which began on Thursday in Toronto and ends at Parliament Hill Saturday afternoon.
The National Police Memorial Service will be held on Sunday on Parliament Hill to memorialize the seven officers slain in the line of duty across the country over the past year.
Commemorative blue ribbon decals were also unveiled, and will be added to all Ottawa Police marked police cars, in memory of all fallen officers.
