Cornwall police have arrested 44-year-old Armand Benoit Girard on 11 counts of fraud.

It is alleged the Montreal man represented himself as a salesperson for a golf signage company and committed fraudulent activities to at least 10 Cornwall businesses.

The total amount allegedly swindled is more than $27,000. Girard was arrested with the help of Montreal police and remains in police custody in Cornwall.

He was arrested Thursday, and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
