SHERBROOKE, Que. -- Two-time Olympic gold medallist Sarah Vaillancourt has retired from the Canadian women's hockey team.
The 27-year-old forward from Sherbrooke, Que., won gold in 2006 and 2010 with Canada.
Vaillancourt had 45 goals and 53 assists in 107 career games with Canada. She played in six world championships and won gold in 2007.
She scored twice and had five assists over five games earlier this month at the women's world hockey championship in Ottawa, where Canada won the silver medal.
It was a return to the national team for Vaillancourt, who didn't play for Canada for two years because of surgeries for a hip injury and hernias.
