TORONTO - The suicidal man who got two unsuspecting police officers into a home north of Cornwall before setting it ablaze has died in hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit did not identify the man but said he died last night.
The 27-year-old had suffered burns to more than 90 per cent of his body.
He showed up Monday at a home in Martintown armed with an axe and a gas can. The residents of the house fled and called police after the man threatened to burn down their home.
He ignited the gas can shortly after two OPP officers entered the home.
The two officers sustained severe but non-life-threatening burns.
