Police have a suspect in custody after a 52-year-old man was found severely beaten with life-threatening head injuries late Saturday night on the Ottawa River Parkway east of Parkdale Avenue.
Paramedics and fire fighters treated the man near the Prince of Wales Bridge before transferring him to the Ottawa Hospital in critical condition. A passerby spotted the victim at the foot of the bridge just after 11 p.m.
A 46-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene. Charges are pending.
The Ottawa police major crime unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
