Two years after Carleton University student Nadia Kajouji took her own life, her brother Marc came back to Ottawa to mark the anniversary -- and to promote a website designed to keep vulnerable young people alive.
It's called Your Life Counts, and shows how young people cope with problems from bullying to suicidal thoughts.
"We're creating a safe harbour online," says Rory Butler, founder of the site. "We steady them."
To help promote the effort, Butler turned to Marc --a man who knows all too well the power of the Internet. An investigation showed that the emotionally distraught 18-year-old had been coached to take her life by an American man she had met online.
"As much as it hurts, I'm not afraid to talk about suicide," Marc says. To keep the site operating, the Kajoujis plan to hold a fundraiser in Ottawa later this year.
