This year's CHEO dream home has been broken into. A burglar cut the lock that led into the patio area. “Someone broke in, broke the lock, has removed our patio and BBQ set that had been donated. We will be looking to get that back, “ say Kevin Keohane, the Chief Operating Officer of the CHEO Foundation. “It’s my understanding that individual had a look into a security camera.”

This is the second time the Manotick home has been broken into. Police investigated a break-in at the construction site in July. A fireplace, valued at 4000 dollars, was stolen.

“It's really an anomaly, it's unfortunate but, in fact, this may even galvanize people more to say 'hey let's get our ticket' get it today, “ says Keohane.

A 100 dollar ticket gives you a chance to win the 5500 square foot home. It’s completely furnished and boasts 2 master bedrooms.

The annual fundraiser has raised 40 million for CHEO over the years. “This lottery is an essential part of how CHEO is able to fund new equipment, expansions to research, improvements to the quality of care,“ says Alex Munter, Chief Executive officer of CHEO. “It really matters.”

Minto has turned that surveillance video over to Ottawa police. Keohane says the burglars face is visible on the video.
