The huge Sony PlayStation gaming and video network is getting into full service mode.

It started up on the weekend and now Sony has announced some details on a new program to welcome back its nearly 100 million users.

The offer is only for existing members of the network, which offers video gaming as well as streaming video and music.

"The program is an expression of our gratitude for your patience, support and continued loyalty during the service outage," Patrick Seybold, the director of corporate communications, wrote in a blog post.

Network gamers can pick two games from a list of five games, download the games for free and keep them. Users will have 30 days to take advantage of the offer from the time the service is fully restored.

The games are:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

For PSP owners the same offer, two free games from a list of four titles.

  • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

For users of the video service, there will be a number of free movies offered over one weekend. The date and the movie titles were not announced.

There are also a series of offers for free service for PlayStation Plus and music plus some free virtual items in the PlayStation Home service. Full details will be posted by Sony.

In Asia, the service is still not restored as Sony says it is still working on security issues.

The whole incident began in mid-April when the network was subject to a hacker attack and Sony chose to shut the network down and upgrade its security features.

Ironically, Sony recently posted a new job opening: chief information security officer.
