It could take weeks to confirm drowning was the cause of death for an eight-year-old girl who died after an incident at a city-run swimming pool in Kanata over the weekend.
Preliminary autopsy results have ruled out that trauma or any injury may have caused Edine Ilunga to lose consciousness while attending a birthday party at the Kanata Leisure Centre on Saturday night.
More forensic tests are scheduled to determine her exact cause of death.
A funeral for Edine will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry's chapel on Macleod Street.
