The Liberal candidate in Ottawa West-Nepean is calling for an investigation into MP John Baird's election spending practices.
David Pratt, a former defence minister, is accusing Baird of misusing flyers sent to constituents by attacking the Liberals. He said it creates an unfair political advantage using taxpayers' money.
"These flyers have absolutely nothing to do with government programs and initiatives, or his actions as an MP," Pratt said Friday.
"They are instead flagrantly and aggressively political, and in some cases amount to nothing more than a reproduction of Conservative attack ads."
A Baird spokesperson said Friday that the flyers are legally within the parameters set for Members of Parliament.
