RIVIRE-DU-LOUP, Que - Parti Qubcois Leader Pauline Marois says she'd like to see a Quebec that is not only politically independent, but energy independent as well.

Marois was speaking at the national conference of PQ presidents taking place today in Rivire-du-Loup, northeast of Quebec City.

She says a PQ government would carry out large-scale projects aimed at reducing the province's dependence on oil and would also fast track plans for sovereignty.

In front of some 250 participants, Marois also attacked Premier Jean Charest, saying he lied to Quebecers on a number of issues, including the finances of the Caisse de depot et placement.

Delegates also discussed the PQ's latest agenda on sovereignty, unveiled by Marois last week in Montreal.
