Ontario Provincial Police are continuing their search for evidence after a 54-year-old mother of two was found dead in her Renfrew apartment building, west of Ottawa, early Monday morning.
Carol-Anne Brunet, who was also a grandmother, was found murdered in her second-floor apartment unit at 236 Hall Ave. at about 1 a.m.
Police arrested a Renfrew man a short time later. However, no charges have been laid.
Residents who live at the Renfrew County Housing Apartment Complex are disturbed by the gruesome discovery.
It's the second time in a few months that the building has been the subject of a police investigation.
Neighbours told CTV Ottawa a fire was deliberately set at the building earlier this year. However, the two incidents are unrelated.
Police are asking anyone with information about the murder to come forward or contact OPP at 613-432-3211 or 1-888-310-1122.
