A wave of nervousness swept over many workplaces in the federal government Tuesday following news of layoffs at the National Research Council.
Eight-six employees at the Canadian Institute for Science and Tech Information will be terminated in April.
A government official says the cuts are in response to program revenues that were ordered by the federal government in an effort to reduce the costs of the public service.
Most of the layoffs will target information specialists and administrators.
