The Halifax Mooseheads got a little revenge for their only regulation loss of the season in Gatineau Friday night.

Playing in front of a national television audience, the Mosseheads (17-1-1) won 5-1 in a rematch of their home opener – a 6-1 Olympiques (6-11-1) win.

Halifax’s dynamic duo of Nate MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin teamed up to assist on Stefan Fournier’s opening power play goal, the only score of the first period.

Gatineau captain Taylor Burke evened the game with a shorthanded goal 14 seconds into the second, but Halifax scored four times in the third period to pull away.

MacKinnon, who has a strong chance to be taken first overall in this year’s NHL draft, finished with two assists while Drouin, who is quickly rising up the draft rankings, had a goal and an assist.

Zachary Fucale made 20 stops for the win, while Eric Brassard’s 27 saves earned him the second star of the game.

Former Olympiques defenceman Colin White had his number 24 retired before the game.

The Nova Scotia native has played 12 seasons in the NHL with New Jersey and San Jose.
