A handful of the 18 ridings in eastern Ontario and western Quebec still don't have a full slate of candidates for the Oct. 14 federal election.

Liberals in Leeds-Grenville are expected to choose their nominee Wednesday night.

The New Democratic Party has five vacancies in eastern Ontario, but expects to have nearly all the slots filled in the next two days.

Meetings are scheduled for Wednesday night in Nepean-Carleton and Renfrew-Nipissing Pembroke, Thursday in Ottawa South, and Friday in Kingston and the Islands.

Candidates have until Sept. 22 to submit nomination papers to Elections Canada.
