The owner of a home that blew up in an explosion late Tuesday morning in Napanee is missing after flames engulfed three houses, burning one of the homes to the ground.
Ontario Provincial Police were called to the Queen Street area, east of Barrett Boulevard, just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. All that was left of one home were bricks and the cement stairs leading up to the front entrance.
The blast caused flames to spread to two neighbouring homes, destroying at least one of them.
Police say they've been unable to locate the owner of the home that blew up. However, families from neighbouring homes on Queen Street are all accounted for.
Although the fire was extinguished by 2 p.m., firefighters remained on the scene to look after hot spots.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. The Ontario Fire Marshall's office has been called in to investigate.
