Gatineau's multi-million dollar STO rapid transit project has been delayed by one year.

The plan, which focuses on rapid bus transportation, includes a 17-kilometre route linking Lorrain Boulevard to downtown Gatineau.

STO President Patrice Martin says the city's Rapidbus transit system won't be ready until fall 2012.

The city says the project was postponed because of delays associated with purchasing land along the corridor.

Officials say the project remains within the budget. The total cost of the project is $233.5 million.
