Newlyweds Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have begun their honeymoon after getting married at a luxury resort in Georgia over the weekend.
Ottawa's hottest couple married before 250 guests at the Ritz Carlton at Reynolds Plantation in Georgia on Saturday. The ceremony featured classical music and the couple's favorite Bible readings, according to a report by People Magazine.
"We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us," the couple said in a statement to People, signing their names "Mike & Carrie Fisher."
It's believed the country superstar will legally change her last name, but will still be known professionally as "Carrie Underwood."
The resort, located in the lush countryside east of Atlanta, was booked solid for the glamorous event this weekend and the town buzzed with news of the wedding, according to media reports.
People Magazine published a photo Monday of Underwood wearing her wedding band. The couple is apparently heading to Tahiti for their honeymoon.
Fisher popped the question to Underwood five days before Christmas. They plan to keep homes in Nashville and Peterborough, Ont.
They are also reportedly building a home in West Carleton, minutes from Scotiabank Place. Construction on the 5,000-square foot home is expected to begin this summer.
