A prominent Pembroke dentist awaiting trial in a drunk driving case is in custody Thursday after breaching her bail conditions.
In a CTV Ottawa exclusive, Christy Natsis was seen being led out of the Rideau Centre by OPP and Ottawa police around 2:15 p.m. after buying alcohol at the LCBO.
Ottawa police said she was arrested after undercover OPP officers called for assistance.
Natsis was free on bail awaiting trial for the March crash that killed 50-year-old Bryan Casey.
The Ottawa native and father of three was driving home from work in Chalk River when his car was hit head-on, killing him instantly.
She was charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and having a blood-alcohol level over .08 causing death.
Her conditions were that she could not consume, possess or buy alcohol and couldn't operate a motor vehicle.
Sources said Natsis wasn't driving when she was arrested; instead, she was on foot after being spotted inside the liquor store twice.
The well-known dentist's arrest shocked the community of Pembroke back in the spring.
Legal experts said usually a person is placed back into custody when caught breaching their bail conditions, with the onus on them to convince a judge they should be freed again.
