Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley could be heading to the San Jose Sharks, according to a media report.
ESPN reports that there's a three-way deal in the works to send Heatley to the Sharks. The Sens would pick up Alexander Frolov and Jarrett Stoll, while the L.A. Kings would get Patrick Marleau.
Although Ottawa Senators General Manager Brian Murray says he's talked to some teams about a Heatley trade, he insists he's not close to a deal.
Heatley arrived back in the capital on a private jet from his home in Kelowna, B.C. late Thursday night.
The disgruntled winger is demanding a trade from the Senators over what he calls a "diminished role" on the team.
If a trade is not finalized soon, Heatley will report to training camp, which starts on Saturday.
Heatley was asked not to participate in the team's annual charity golf tournament which got underway today.
Team officials said they didn't want Heatley's presence to take the focus away from the fundraiser.
