Provincial police and the Ontario Fire Marshal's office are investigating after a body was found in the rubble of a home destroyed by fire earlier this week.

Provincial police say they found the body as they searched through the charred remains of a home in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township, located about 2 hours northwest of Ottawa, on Tuesday.

Fire crews were called to the home on Copp Road to battle flames at about 10:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Police say they have not yet identified the body. A post-mortem is planned.
