Expect a messy Monday morning commute tomorrow. A freezing rain warning has been issued for Ottawa and surrounding areas including Gatineau, Kingston, Brockville, Prescott and Cornwall.

According to Environment Canada, up to six hours of freezing rain is possible from early Monday morning through the evening hours.

Regions across Ottawa and the St. Lawrence Valley could see snow and ice pellets beginning early Monday and changing to freezing rain later in the morning or early afternoon.

The precipitation will change to snow flurries by Monday night and continue until Tuesday morning.

Motorists are being asked to exercise caution and be prepared for slippery driving conditions. Pedestrians should also be careful as untreated sidewalks and roads will become icy.

Check back with CTV Ottawa tomorrow morning for information about any school bus cancellations.
