Ottawa police are searching for a man caught on video stealing a CHEO donation box from a west end grocery store.
The theft happened Nov. 27 at McDaniel’s Independent Grocer near Merivale Road and Meadowlands Drive.
Store surveillance cameras show a man grabbing the donation box from a courtesy desk counter minutes before closing time.
“It's bad enough you're stealing from a store, let alone stealing from children,” store manager Jeff Thompson said. “You know this is a CHEO box, it's supposed to be for the kids, specifically.”
Last November, another CHEO donation box was stolen from the same grocery store.
The thief in that case was also caught on surveillance video. He was caught and charged.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ottawa police.
