Ottawa Senators fans continue to wait for word on whether a trade with Edmonton involving disgruntled forward Dany Heatley will proceed.
According to TSN, Heatley refused to waive his no-trade clause Tuesday night when the deal was first proposed for the Oilers' Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner, and Ladislav Smid.
But Heatley could still agree on a move to the Alberta capital due to confusion over the deadline for Ottawa to pay him a $4-million signing bonus. J.P. Barry, Heatley's agent, thought the payment would come into effect after 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, not Tuesday, TSN reported.
Last month, Heatley told the NHL club that he wanted to be traded, a demand that came less than two years after Heatley signed a US$45-million, six-year deal with the Senators.
