Ottawa police say two people have been charged, and they are looking for a third suspect after what they are calling a serious assault on an Uber taxi driver.
Police say on June 8, two men and a woman got into an Uber car outside of a downtown nightclub at Bank and Slater streets.
A few blocks away, the passengers became physically aggressive with the driver, who ended up abandoning his car at the corner of Elgin and Lisgar streets.
The victim tried to flee, but police say he was chased down, dragged, beaten and left unconscious. The suspects then ran off. The victim was in hospital for a few days with face and head injuries.
Police have charged 23-year-old Crystle Bossi and 27-year-old Jesse Karam, both of Ottawa, with aggravated assault.
Karam, who also faces two charges of breach and undertaking, will appear in court today.
Bossi is scheduled to make a court appearance in July.
Police are also looking for a third suspect involved in the assault.
He is described as black, about six feet tall, about 30 years old, with a muscular build and long hair.
