Do laundry on weekends/Run the dishwasher in the middle of the night:
Appliances use a lot of energy, but you can save money by using these appliances during off-peak periods. There are discount rates on electricity on the weekends and its cheapest to use energy overnight.
The off-switch:
The off-switch can be a good little helper to your bank account. A lot of us leave things like lights, the television and computer on unnecessarily. Save a few pennies and turn them off when you're not using them.
Replace bulbs:
Try changing your regular incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescents.
Plug it out:
Do not leave things like cell phone chargers, electric shavers, coffee machines, irons or printers plugged in. These devices are like vampires—thirsty for energy. A good rule-of-thumb is that if there is a little light or gets warm its drinking energy not sipping it.
Get romantic:
Candlelit dinners don't use any energy.
