The Ottawa Senators have signed goaltender Craig Anderson to a four-year deal worth $3.2 million per season.

The club picked up Anderson from the Colorado Avalanche in a trade last month for struggling goalie Brian Elliot. Anderson was supposed to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Since joining the Ottawa Senators, Anderson, 29, has a 6-4-0 record in 11 games. His save percentage is .938 and he's also posted one shutout.

Senators General Manager Bryan Murray announced Anderson's contract extension on Monday. He is now signed until the 2014-2015 season.

"Craig has provided a level of confidence to this team and this organization that was lacking early in the season, and we feel he is the type of person and player that will be a big part of our organization's future success," Murray said in a prepared statement.

He says securing good goaltending is key to the team's rebuilding plans.

Anderson has played eight years in the NHL, racking up 224 regular games.
