Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for much of the region as the first winter storm of the season is expected to hit tonight.
Meteorologists expect the heavy snowfall to begin around dinner time Tuesday, which could make for a messy commute home.
The forecast calls for a total of 25 centimetres of snow by the time it is expected to end Wednesday.
A special weather statement from environment Canada says driving conditions will deteriorate quickly as the snow moves in.
City of Ottawa officials say they are ready to deploy snow removal crews as soon as necessary.
