BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Charges are being considered against protesters involved in two demonstrations earlier this week at a First Nations reserve east of Belleville.

Tyendinaga Mohawk reserve police Chief Ron Maracle says officers are reviewing videotape of the protests at the Buildall quarry and the proposed site of a new police station. He wouldn't comment on the specific incidents.

Opponents of the gravel pit occupied the site from Monday until Wednesday.

A group of protesters also blocked trucks carrying the modular building that was supposed to serve as the new police station.

Some of the reserve's residents are upset that the $1.9 million set aside for the station isn't being used for other projects, such housing and water improvements.
