BELLEVILLE, Ont. - A pedestrian has been killed on Highway 401 in Belleville, Ont., after trying to cross the busy four-lane highway.
Police say the man, believed to be in his 40s, was struck by a tractor trailer and then several other vehicles at about 8:30 p.m.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene and police have not yet said why he was trying to cross the highway.
A post mortem is scheduled in Belleville later today.
The 401 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
