  • Top Priority: I have a number of priorities including: more affordable and accessible housing; safer, more walkable streets and communities; the modernization of our parks, schools, minor league sports programs; and making Orléans a green community. But my top priority is creating more jobs in Orléans so that our families can live, work, play, shop, create, make, learn, grow here without having to struggle for hours in traffic. Let’s keep our most precious resource—our youth—close to home by making Orléans a more dynamic place to live.
  • Hidden gem in your ward: That’s easy. It’s our incredibly diverse, existing network of entrepreneurs who have already made their mark on our community. These are the people who should be mentoring the next generation of eager and innovative entrepreneurs. I will do everything I can to help existing businesses grow faster and new ones flourish. I believe St. Joseph Boulevard, with its town-like appeal, has the potential to be a charming hotspot for local entrepreneurship and economic development.

  • Hidden Gem in your ward: Our beautiful parks

  • Top Priority: My top priority for Orléans is to get started on the revitalization of St-Joseph Boulevard. It is set to be repaved in 2019, and we need to do more than repave it in order to make it more attractive and more accessible
  • Hidden Gem in your ward: Orléans has a number of amazing parks and local businesses, but if we take "hidden" literally, I would say the Orléans Tennis Club. It is tucked into the curve of a residential street, right beside a play structure, basketball court and volleyball court. They have many programs and camps, and have recently adapted their courts to accommodate pickleball, which is gaining in popularity.

  • Top Priority: The need for subsidized housing, rentals and accessible housing continues to grow, with 11,000 on the Ottawa waiting list. The time to build more is now, with the help of builders, Provincial and Federal government. Seniors' service, day programs dementia, post-stroke, and recreation needs are increasing as they become a growing percentage of our resident population.
  • Hidden Gem in your ward: It is time to look at our jewel, Petrie Island, and finish it. We should attract a private partner and build a pavilion, a restaurant, a real marina and good services that would support more festivals, like the ones we already have.

  • Top Priority: Securing signature tenants near Phase 2 LRT stations. The city needs to encourage bold plans to entice developers and entrepreneurs to Orléans. Having a highly-skilled work force centralized in Orléans will bringmuch economic development and employment for the region.
  • Hidden gem in your ward: Petrie Island

  • Top Priority: An affordable livable city for all
  • Hidden gem in your ward: Petrie Island (beyond the beach area)

  • Top Priority: Senior care and affordable housing are my top priorities. Seniors are The Kings and Queens of the City. They should be treated like Royalty, after all they built the City of Ottawa. Most seniors want to stay in their home but are lacking the supports to do so. It's as though they have a best before date, they reach a certain age and they are forgotten about. This is unacceptable, I would like to create and implement a volunteer driven program that will help keep seniors in their homes longer. The program would be designed to help seniors with various tasks such as landscaping, grocery shopping and household chores. I would like to target new retirees as the primary source of volunteers. The more they volunteer the more hours they bank. Once they find themselves at an age where they need support they can start using the volunteer hours they have accumulated. I will also be relentlessly seeking more funding for home care.
  • Hidden gem in your ward: 1900 St.Joseph Boulevard fills me with joy every time I think of the place

  • Top Priority: To bring more knowledge-based employment opportunities to Orléans, specifically federal government. If there were employment options in Orléans, it would not only give the large group of public servants living in the east end the opportunity to work close to where they live, it would alleviate traffic congestion on the 174, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and assure stable housing prices for everyone.
  • Hidden gem in your ward:I would love to be able to answer Petrie Island to this question, but I believe it needs some attention in order for it to reach its full potential. The revitalization of Petrie Island and the re-imagining of St. Joseph Blvd are two of my priorities. The real gem in Orléans is the people that live in it and the sense of community that exists in each of its neighbourhoods.

  • Hidden gem in your ward: Petrie Islandit has a lot of potential and it’s not being used to its full use.

  • Top Priority: My immediate priority is to continue the exemplary service delivery provided by Bob Monette to the residents of Orléans. My long term priority is to work with business and public sector stakeholders to explore how we can expand the existing footprint of universities and colleges in Ward 1.
  •  Hidden gem in your ward: Nature trails in Queenswood Heights. These trails are a great place to unwind, job, walk your dog and enjoy nature.

Don Yetman

  • Top Priority: I believe the top Priority for a Municipal election is certainly the responsiveness of the councillor to constituent day to day,  grassroots issues. That includes , transit, safety, road conditions , access to services, etc. On a day to day basis people want these types of problems addressed quickly and efficiently. People are , of course, interested in making sure their representative reflect their values in policy and longer term topics, but day to day is of prime importance.
  • Hidden gem in your ward: The hidden gem in Ward 1 is the access to a wide variety of walking an biking trails that cover the northern boundaries of the Ward, right along the Ottawa River. You can walk , bicycle, rollerblade, run on these trails from the Western end of the Ward right to Petrie Island and its beaches on the Eastern border. It's a beautiful , serene place to be one with nature , and only seconds from suburbia!
