Monday marked the 30th anniversary of the first international terrorist attack in Canada.

The attack happened in Ottawa where Atilla Altikat of the Turkish embassy and was gunned down on his way to work.

"The last time I saw him alive was at a picnic that he organized in Gatineau a couple of days before he shot,” said Paul Heinbecker, who reflected back on that tragic day back in 1982.

"Celebrate the young officer’s life, who had family, who had kids, who basically was here to do his job,” said Jevat Zarrin.

"He was a very promising, bright, personable, warm guy.” said Paul Heinbecker, Former Diplomat.

Turkish-Canadian’s gathered in memory of death. A mysterious monument was coverend throughout the entire ceremony. It is not clear if the monument is in memory of Altikat.

His killer has never been found though Armenians claimed responsibility.

"Really shocked that after 30 year, still Canadian Justice has not been done,” Ozay Mehmet, Council of Turkish-Canadians.
