A dramatic police chase of a stolen vehicle through the Byward Market and into Vanier ended with one of the suspects being hit by a police cruiser Sunday morning.
At around 12:30 a.m., Ottawa police pursued the stolen vehicle, which was then abandoned on Beechwood Avenue.
All four occupants of the car, two male, two female, fled on foot. As the suspects fled, one was struck by a police vehicle and sustained minor injuries and the rest were taken into custody.
The injured person was taken to hospital and later released into police custody.
Police closed Beechwood Avenue between Landsdown Road and Juliana Road as a result of the investigation. The road was re-opened just after 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police have charged the 34-year-old driver, Stephane Monast of Ottawa with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving and failing to comply with release conditions.
