The man accused of counselling Carleton University student Nadia Kajouji to take her own life pleaded not guilty in a Minnesota court Friday.
William Melcert-Dinkel, a former nurse, allegedly met Kajouji on the internet and encouraged her to end her life. He is also charged in the suicide of an English man.
Besides pleading guilty, Melcert-Dinkel asked the judge to dismiss the charges against him due to lack of jurisdiction.
The defense and prosecutor will submit their arguments on jurisdiction Dec. 10.
Kajouji disappeared from her Carleton University residence in winter 2008. Her body was found in the Rideau River in March of that year.
