Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a ditch early Saturday morning after a motorcycle crash.

OPP say the body was found near the interesection of Kitley Line 6 and Kinch Street in the west ditch along County Road 29, about 18 kilometres south of Smiths Falls.

The body of a 37-year-old man from the Lombardy area was found at around 5:30 a.m. but OPP say they are unsure when the accident took place.

In an update on Monday, police say lifesaving measures were taken immediately, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle was cold to the touch when officers arrived on scene. The rider appeared to have been going southbound when the accident took place, police say.

No witnesses have come forward.

The OPP's  Collision Reconstructionists and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team have concluded their portion of the investigation. The roadway reopened later in the day on Sunday.

The Chief Coroner and the Office of Forensic Pathology have begun their investigation into the cause of death of the operator.
