A man was found dead in a condominium building elevator shaft at a construction site on Richmond Road near Island Park Drive Wednesday morning.
The worker – an elevator technician – was found at the bottom of an elevator shaft by the construction site supervisor for Ashcroft Home Builders at about 10 a.m.
Rescue officials say the man fell down the shaft and landed in the elevator pit. It is not known how far he had fallen or how long his body has been in the pit before being discovered.
The man, who was in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials onsite named the man as Ross Angus, who worked for Schindler Elevator. He is married with two children.
He was making final adjustments to an elevator so it could be certified for use before he fell.
The Ministry of Labour and the Ottawa Police are investigating the incident.
