The $50 million jackpot will likely be in the hands of a Hawkesbury couple very soon following an insider-win investigation.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation released Tuesday that JoAnn and Gaetan Champagne have cleared two hurdles in a three-step process.
The couple, who won the LOTTO MAX jackpot on Dec. 30, were lottery retailers within the past 12 months. They owned and worked in Jo's Depanneur in Hawkesbury until October of last year which is why the gaming corporation had to investigate the win.
When CTV contacted OLG it was made clear the couple would likely receive their cash prize as the last hurdle is to wait a 30-day period. As long as no one else comes forward with a winning ticket, the money will be paid to the Champagnes at the end of February.
The ticket was bought at Pharmaprix on Aberdeen Street in Hawkesbury.
