From Coast to coast, all GoodLife Fitness clubs have launched its teen fitness program for youth ages 12 to 17.

Participating teens will have full club access seven days per week.

“We're facing an obesity epidemic with teens so it's very important to show them that we do care,” said Dan Grefford, GoodLife Fitness.

The idea is to get teens off the couch and into the gym to start forming healthy habits.

“I spend a lot of time on facebook, about an hour on the computer, I don't watch too much tv, but I text like a lot,” said Savita Owens, a teen who’s looking into the program.

According to the Canada Health Measure Survey, more than 26 per cent of children and youth are overweight and 60 per cent of Canadian youth do not get the required daily physical activity for optimum growth and development.
