The Quebec government is reviewing the practices of Gatineau's two hospitals and four nursing homes to determine why they're running a multi-million dollar deficit.

Quebec's Health Minister Yves Bolduc wants the health agencies to balance the books for the 2010-2011 budget year.

The government will now appoint an expert to pinpoint why the facilities have an $8-million deficit.

The review is expected to take up to eight months to complete.
