The Gatineau Olympiques fell 5-3 to the Halifax Mooseheads Friday in their only visit to the Nova Scotian capital this regular season.

Halifax's (18-7-1-2) Gabriel Desjardins scored a natural hat trick in the second period, with his final goal an unassisted effort.

The Olympiques (14-13-1-3) answered to a deficit with three straight goals for the second straight night, with Adam Chapman and Christian Ouellet scoring 1:02 apart to open the third period.

Samuel Courtemanche had his first goal of the season to tie the game at three just over seven minutes into the third.

Halifax's Andrew Ryan scored the eventual game-winner with 7:46 to play at the Halifax Metro Centre, with Matthew Boudreau's power play goal a few minutes later serving as insurance.

Zachary Fucale was the winning goaltender with 19 saves, while Gatineau's Chris Clarke earned the loss, coming in for the third period to replace Francois Lacerte.

Halifax scored two power play goals on five chances, while Gatineau couldn't connect on three Halifax penalties.

Notes – Gatineau has scored three goals in each of its last four games . . .
