A father who lost his youngest son in a house fire nearly two weeks ago says he is overwhelmed by an outpouring of community support.

Abdi Ali says his family is thankful for the donations they've received from the community.

Ali's two-year-old son Khalid was killed in a blaze that engulfed the family home on Caldwell Avenue, March 31.

Khalid's mother and his six siblings escaped the fatal fire.

Ali says his children are slowly coming to terms with the death of their younger brother.

Fundraising in the community has amounted to $12,000.

The money is going to both the Ali family and others affected by the blaze.
