It got moved around and altered, but the Energizer Night Skate still achieved its charitable goal Friday night at Ottawa's Rink of Dreams.
The slushy weather forced the closure of its original location on the Rideau Canal and meant the Rink of Dreams ice was too soft for adults.
"Unfortunately the weather didn't work out this evening but I think we had a great back-up plan," said Danielle Robinson with the Sens Foundation, who benefitted from the event. "Its 12 and under so we're just watching from the side but it's still nice to see all the kids have a great time."
The young skaters wore LED lights on their helmets and spun around the ice with the Energizer Bunny and the only adult allowed on, Jason Spezza.
"It's pretty cool to see all the All-Stars, they're all around right now," said one child.
"I really like the All-Star weekend and that it's in my home town," said another.
The night raised more than $75,000 for the Sens Foundation which will go towards building rinks across the city.
