BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Alan Quine had a goal and an assist for the Peterborough Petes as they dealt the Belleville Bulls a 4-1 loss Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.
Matt Puempel, Nick Ritchie and Austin Watson scored Peterborough's other goals while Adam Payerl scored the only goal for the Bulls.
Peterborough looked to have the early lead just 32 seconds in to the game, but Slater Koekkoek's apparent goal was called off when he made incidental contact with Bulls' goalie John Chartrand.
The Petes put another one past Chartrand, and this time it counted, when Quine let a weak wrister go to open the scoring.
Chartrand made 32 saves for the Bulls (7-7-0), who outshot the Petes 43-37.
Peterborough came in to the night with the league's best penalty killing unit and, despite being second-last in the league for power play scoring, the Bulls tied the game in the second with the man advantage. Payerl let a wrister from the point past a screened Andrew D'Agostini for his sixth of the year.
D'Agostini made 42 saves in for Peterborough (7-5-3) as they put an end to a five-game losing steak.
Peterborough did all its third-period scoring in the final three minutes, starting with Puempel getting the eventual game winner at the 17 minute mark, followed by Ritchie 30 seconds later and Watson adding an empty netter.
