Boone Jenner's two first period goals paced the Oshawa Generals past the Belleville Bulls 5-1 on Friday night.
Oshawa's (7-6-0-2) leading scorer got on the board 4:21 into the game, firing the puck past the blocker side of Belleville (7-6-0-0) goalie John Chartrand.
Left winger Josh Graves scored the eventual game-winner midway through the period, then Jenner added another with 2:36 left.
"I really thought we were behind our opponent right from the drop of the puck tonight," said Belleville assistant coach Jake Grimes on the team's website. "We know enough to expect Oshawa to jump all over us when we make errors, especially early in the game."
Neither team scored in the second after Chartrand was replaced by Charlie Graham, making his first OHL appearance.
The Generals put up two quick ones at the beginning of the third before Belleville's Austen Brassard broke Daniel Altshuller's shutout with a powerplay goal.
Altshuller, a Nepean native who played in the Central Canada Hockey League last year, was traded from Belleville to Oshawa before the season began.
Belleville's power play goal was their only one in 13 opportunities, while their penalty kill was perfect in six shorthanded situations.
Belleville's next game is Saturday night when they host Peterborough, while Oshawa travels to Owen Sound.
