The first day of school for thousands of children in the region marked a return to regular routines for many families.

More than 100,000 students at Ottawa's public and Catholic school boards returned to class Tuesday.

The new school, Westwind Public, is tailored for the young demographic in the area.

The school has seven kindergarten classes, a double gymnasium and a wireless network.
