The City of Ottawa has been given control over bus driver scheduling, one year after the issue become a major sticking point in last year's chilling winter bus strike.

An arbitrator ruled in October that the city should control scheduling. However, the union contested that ruling. Now, a final ruling has reaffirmed the city's victory.

Scheduling became the root of a labour dispute last year that saw bus drivers walking the picket line for 53 days in the middle of winter.

Even after the strike ended at the end of January, full bus service did not resume until mid-March.

OC Transpo will implement a new scheduling system for bus drivers starting early this spring.
