'The Ride' cancelled due to weather

The Ottawa Hospital Foundation has been forced to cancel its signature cycling fundraiser, “The Ride” due to weather.

The event had originally been scheduled for Sunday but organizers said due to a risk of thunderstorms “making conditions unsafe for participants and volunteers” the event would be cancelled.

“The Ride” was given a new name and route this year after the death of cyclist Laurie Strano along the route last year.

A fundraising total is expected to be announced Sunday.

Participants are encouraged to drop off their pledges if they haven't done so at The Ottawa Hospital Foundation located at 737 Parkdale Ave., 1^st Floor in the Kaminski Room at the Civic Campus Sunday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or contact The Ottawa Hospital Foundation to make arrangements
