An electrical problem is suspected after an unoccupied bungalow went up in flames around 4 a.m. Saturday, closing down several roads in Stittsville surrounding Main Street.

The fire began in the basement, climbed the walls and spread to the attic, firefighters said. By the time officials arrived, the roof was "fully involved".

Quelling the two-alarm blaze took 48 firefighters and 10 vehicles, but it was under control by 4:50 a.m.

No one was inside and no injuries were reported in the blaze. It remains under investigation.
