Ottawa Senator fans lit up the switchboard Thursday at Team 1200 Sports Radio furious over the way star defenceman Erik Karlsson was injured.

"I've not seeen a bigger response in the 15 years of doing this show. The fan response was overwhelming and most thjought that Matt Cooke was intentional with the skate", explained John Rodenburg of the Team 1200.

Karlson was in the operating room this morning at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus for surgery to repair his Achilles tendon,

It was severed when Pittsburg Penguin Matt Cooke hit him against the boards last night with his skate chomping down on Karlsson.

Many fans calling in to the Team 1200 say  the Ottawa Senators will be hardpressed to make the play-offs.

Erik Karlsson is a Norris Trophy winner and one of the elite players in the NHL.
